![]() I was just comparing the encoding speed, shouldn't the encoding speed be pretty close if it's just a simple transcode with no filters and copy audio ? No. Handbrake does it with proper times, Avidemux does not. There is no excuse whatsoever for Avidemux taking 20+ minutes to render on an i7. Spoken like a true amateur who doesn't know whether to wind his butt or scratch his watch. I really liked it at first for it's simplicity until I found out these astonishing results. I can use a free editing program instead of goofing with Avidemux. I was trying to combine flash clips and it totally warped the audio and slowed down the whole video. Why would I ever touch Avidemux again? For simple editing? It can't even do that. Handbrake always encoded faster with smaller files - H264 high definition. I reproduced the results on a vast number of CPU's. I made sure to check Avidemux settings that it was using all cores. Not only that but Handbrake encoded the file SMALLER by a significant amount. ![]() I go and install Handbrake and it encodes the same file in under 4 minutes. This was done encoding a 16gb raw video file. I found with certain CPU's the times were WAY off.Īvidemux gave me a pathetic encode time of 24 minutes with a core i7 3770k w/ hyper-threading. Basically I was testing one computer's CPU vs another. Adobe Premiere Pro is an excellent option for people who are used to the usual Adobe interface and use their cloud services.ĪviDemux is an open-source video editor which can perform the basic functions of editing, but lacks a sophisticated editing interface or advanced features available with more advanced editors.I was using Avidemux a lot to test encoding times. Features do not compare to premium application like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro.Older interface that doesn't make editing easy.Multi-platform support for Windows, OS X, Linux and BSD.Scripting engine to automate some video editing processes.Uses multiple codecs for proper encoding of audio and video streams. ![]() Edit AVI, MP4, ASD, ACE, MP2, FLV and MPEG files. The interface is functional but clearly doesn't offer the kind of sophistication of a premium video editor. Near the bottom is a playback system with controls to move through a video clip. The menu system lines the top of the application window with a small row of toolbar buttons below it.Īlong the left side are options for the video decoder, video output, audio output, and audio formats. The interface hasn't change too much in recent years and is starting to look a bit dated.
